FOUNDATIONS · AIR
Most people think improving air quality means buying an air purifier. Filtration matters, but it's only one piece of the picture.
Depending on your environment and goals, there are different ways to create a healthier indoor space.
Here's where I'd start.
"Every time the system runs, the whole house is treated."
Whole-Home Air Quality
If you're looking for the most comprehensive whole-home solution, this is where I would start.
If I could only choose one
Installed directly into your home's HVAC system, REME HALO continuously treats the air throughout your entire home every time your heating or air conditioning runs. Unlike filtration alone, it uses advanced oxidation technology to help reduce airborne bacteria, viruses, mold spores, odors, VOCs, and other contaminants throughout your living environment.
Individual Room Air Purification
If a whole-home system isn't an option, a high-quality portable air purifier is one of the easiest ways to improve the air in the rooms where you spend the most time, or even need extra support with an existing whole house system.
Not all purifiers are created equal. I look at filtration performance, airflow, VOC and chemical filtration, replacement-filter costs, and long-term value, not simply which brand happens to be the most popular online.
BEST OVERALL VALUE
Excellent everyday HEPA filtration with reasonable upfront and replacement-filter costs. A strong choice for bedrooms, offices, and most homes.
Approx. $450–$800 depending on room size/model.
Also in this group
Serious particle filtration combined with substantial carbon/zeolite media. Higher upfront cost, but unusually long filter life makes the long-term economics much better than they initially appear.
Approx. $850.
Powerful, high-airflow HEPA and carbon filtration. An excellent premium machine, but considerably more expensive to purchase and maintain.
Approx. $1,200

Room-by-Room Air Purification
My favorite solution for bedrooms, offices, nurseries, or any room where you spend significant time.

If I could only choose one
AirDoctor uses medical-grade HEPA and carbon filtration to physically remove dust, pollen, smoke, mold spores, pet dander, and other fine airborne particles — quietly, room by room.
Portable Air Support
These compact technologies offer additional air support when a whole-home system or full-size purifier isn't practical. They work differently from conventional HEPA filtration and may be used as complementary tools rather than direct replacements.
Breathe Safe uses portable plasma technology to help improve the quality of the air around you by reducing airborne bacteria, mold, viruses, odors, and other contaminants.
Anywhere you don't control the air quality, this is an easy way to create a cleaner personal environment without carrying a full-sized air purifier.

TherAir uses Therasage's Light Activated Energized Oxygen technology rather than conventional high-airflow HEPA filtration. I think of this as complementary air technology, not a replacement for a good mechanical particulate filter.

"Not every space needs a system. Some just need freshening."
Freshen Smaller Spaces
A compact negative-ion device designed to freshen the air in smaller spaces while helping reduce odors and improve the overall feel of your environment.
Simple, quiet, and doesn't require filter replacements. A small, easy addition to a bathroom, closet, or car — anywhere that just needs to feel fresher.

You probably don’t need to replace it.
There are several excellent air purifiers on the market. Alen, Austin Air, Brio, Jaspr, and AirDoctor all make capable systems. If you already own one and it’s working well for you, keep using it.
My goal isn’t to convince you that you need a new machine. I want to help you understand the differences in filtration, airflow, VOC and chemical removal, replacement-filter costs, and long-term value so you can make a better decision when it’s actually time to buy or replace one.
A note about AirDoctor: I previously recommended AirDoctor and many people in my community already own one. I have chosen to end my relationship with the company behind the brand, but that does not suddenly make the purifier you already own a bad machine. Keep it. When you need replacement filters, you can choose the manufacturer's filters or research compatible third-party options. I simply will not be directing new purchases to the company going forward.
Bottom line: If you already own a good purifier, use it. Clean air is the goal, not brand loyalty.
